Intro: City of Glass is the third volume in the popular Mortal Instrument Series written by Cassandra Clare. The first and the second volume being “City of Bones” and “City of Ashes”, created a curiosity in me. I knew the third part would be really good, looking at the storyline created so far- Jace and Clary’s romance and now being siblings, Valentine’s acts of conspirations and the degree of unruliness at the downworlders.

Summary: Clary is faced with a difficult task: she must embark on a journey to the City of Glass, the home place of all the badass warriors (shadowhunters), in order to save her mother’s life. But, Clary must remember that entering the city without authorization is a violation of the law, punishable by death. Complicating matters further, she discovers that Jace, the person she cares about most, does not want her there. Furthermore, her best friend Simon, has been imprisoned by the Conclave of shadowhunters due to their distrust of a vampire who can tolerate sunlight.

As, Clary discovers more about her family and their secrets, she finds an unexpected ally in another shadowhunter, Sebastian. With the powerful Valentine rallying his full strength to eradicate all shadowhunters forever, their only hope of defeating him lies in joining forces with their adversaries. Yet, can the downworlders and shadowhunters set aside their differences and become one to save the world? Meanwhile, as Jace understands his extent of willingness to jeopardize everything for Clary, she must harness her new-found abilities to aid in saving the City of Glass, regardless of the sacrifices involved.

My Personal Review: City of Glass is till now my favorite book of the series. It is action packed, dramatic, we witness fighting and an up close look at the Clave, romance and best of all, long awaited answers for Clary. In some parts of the Book, the story was awesome, but in others, it could have had a better polish. As soon as I started reading this book, it did not have the continuation i had expected. The starting of the story was going haywire, then after finishing two-thirds of the book, I was finally able to connect the storyline to the previous book.

City of glass is a book, where the all the pieces fall into place- romance between Clary and Jace, the truth about them, about Valentine and most importantly, about the world. Overall, this book was a good addition to the series.
